The Footprint Makes a Statement in the Sand

Global Footprint Network Partners Ecolife and WWF Belgium have collaborated with a Flemish TV Station to create a giant Footprint on the Belgian beach of Zeebrugge.

---------------------

The impressive piece of art represents the Ecological Footprint of the average Belgian, at 5.6 hectares in area. This giant Footprint array, the size of 11 soccer fields, was displayed on the beach in November for a new Belgian television program that looks at our individual impact and the overall impact on the environment. The program also highlights the fact that the average Belgian Footprint is almost 4 times what is actually available for the average human on the planet, according to Global Footprint Network data.
