As we see clearly from our data – and from the headlines we read every day – humanity urgently needs to employ existing solutions to address our resource challenges. But even so, there will be a gap between what we can achieve with existing solutions and what we will need to live within the means of one planet.

We clearly need breakthrough thinking and cross-sector collaboration to create the systemic changes we need. This September, Global Footprint Network is convening a global gathering of the minds to tackle the most pressing resource issues humanity is facing and take action toward a sustainable future.
To take place June 7-11, 2010, just outside of Siena, Italy, the Forum will be a highly interactive series of discussions, designed to create the kind of learning and idea-sharing that can move the sustainability agenda forward in a time of increasing ecological (as well as economic) pressure.
• Academics will have the opportunity to share the latest Ecological Footprint research.
• NGOs will discuss the latest innovations in personal behavior change.
• Development agencies will explore what is needed to pull people out of poverty while preserving natural capital.
• Government representatives will be able to discuss how to maintain a competitive economy during a time of resource scarcity.
• Corporations will be able to gain an understanding of how to build a robust business strategy that will withstand ecological pressures.
