About the Global Footprint Network
Our mission is to promote a sustainable economy by advancing the Ecological Footprint, a measurement tool that makes the reality of planetary limits relevant to decision-makers.

Partnership with University of Sydney

Manfred Lenzen, University of Sydney with Mathis Wackernagel, Executive Director, Global Footprint Network
One of Australia's leading advocates of the Ecological Footprint tool, the Integrated Sustainability Analysis program at University of Sydney, have joined as partners of Global Footprint Network. The Integrated Sustainability Analysis program calculates comprehensive Ecological Footprints for companies, government agencies and NGOs.

ISA is a leader in physical "input-output" analysis and has applied this resource accounting tool to Ecological Footprinting. Our collaboration with ISA supports our mission to develop the best tools and to harmonize methodologies. Our first project together has been to calculate the Ecological Footprint of the State of Victoria, Australia, a project that has allowed us to examine the two approaches and explore routes to methodology standardization.
