Highlighting a few of our many 2022 accomplishments and sharing something BIG to look forward to in 2023!
Dear Friend,
Relieved as we may have been to emerge from the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic, last year was still challenging for many. Multiple crises converged in a perfect storm of geopolitical, economic, and resource security disruption.
It’s in this strained context that I am especially proud that Global Footprint Network achieved multiple milestones. Below are a few brief highlights, with the full details available on our blog.
2023 is a special year for Global Footprint Network as we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of our organization’s formation. Twenty years spent updating, strengthening, and refining the National Footprint and Biocapacity Accounts. Twenty years advocating to address ecological overshoot and, by extension, its symptoms such as biodiversity collapse and climate change.
More than ever, we will strive to help accelerate available, effective, and affordable solutions that can allow humanity to live within the means of one planet. As ESG reporting legislation is proliferating around the globe, the need for relevant data is becoming more pressing than ever. Ecological Footprint accounting’s unique approach is providing the much-needed answers.
So please mark your calendar: on June 5, join us for our 20th anniversary hybrid event. We are working hard to deliver a celebration that is worthy of our achievements of the past two decades and of our goals going forward. Details to follow in the coming months – stay tuned!
In the meantime, I wish you a healthy, peaceful, joyful, and prosperous New Year.
Thank you for your support always, Steven Tebbe, CEO
P.S. As we wrap up another successful year, I want to extend a special thank you to our donors who make it possible for us to work towards achieving one-planet prosperity. You play an integral role in ending overshoot, and I am immensely grateful for your support.
