Watch the event recording

22 September
16:00-17:30 (CEST)

The nexus between environmental and human security is increasingly being recognized, with many fragile and conflict affected countries at particularly high risk for immediate environmental challenges.

How can security sector governance and reform contribute to preparing for a future shaped by environmental degradation and climate change? This webinar, hosted by the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance, will analyze risks faced by both humans and the ecosystems on which they depend, while identifying new entry points for building resilience and meeting the security needs of communities.

A variety of questions will be discussed, including:
•    What role can the security sector play in environmental security?
•    How can we better understand and address short- and long-term risks to both environmental and human security?
•    How can security institutions tackle factors which are driving climate change?
